1 Corinthians 13 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible because it speaks of what Love truly is, patient, kind, forgiving, not prideful and so on. This chapter is also convicting. I can work 12 hours a day feeding others or sharing God's word, but if I don't have love for my neighbor then it I am doing it for me and not for God. I am just going through the motions. God desires us to serve, not because it looks good to others, but because we love Him and in turn show love to others. As you serve the Lord and others today, is there love in your heart? Are you patient with those you are serving, are you kind and forgiving? If the answer is no, then stop and ask God to help you fill your heart full of love for Him and you neighbor.
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 NIV
1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
