Part 1 of Great Adventure up to now - the earlier years

Well, one day I was born and then....you thought this was going to be a long, drawn out post???  Well as my sister will tell you, I don't remember much from gr owning up, oh I remember some birthdays and Christmases, vacations and other monumental events, but she remembers what she was doing on July 4th, 1976 I am sure. Oh wait, I remember that one!! It was the Bicentennial year and I was at Gibson City's Bicentennial Parade, standing in front of my future husband's house (I didn't know that at the time - I think he was dating my sister at that time). Wow I do remember more than I thought.

Anyway here is what I wanted to share.  I grew up in central Illinois, married my high school sweetheart when I was 18, graduated from nursing school when I was 19, had our first daughter a few months later after I had turned 20 and then another daughter when I was 27.  I have been married to Jim for almost 30 years, it will be 30 years in October.  So yes, now you can figure out how old I am, I am glad someone can, because I always think I am still in my thirties(that would be hard to explain the 28 year old daughter then....)

We moved to Arkansas 27 years ago and this is now home.  I am a registered nurse who hasn't done nursing for about 11 years (previous life was dialysis nurse).  I know fix computers instead of people and help K-12 students and teachers along the way.

My husband and I are empty-nesters with our youngest daughter getting married in July. Our oldest daughter has her own home about 3 hours from us, makes it hard for Dad to come fix things, but he manages to get it done!

So this is my great adventure up to know, or at least Part 1. Just wanted to give you a little background of me - maybe it will be helpful, maybe not, but here it is.

Wednesday Nights

I often think I know much more than I actually do.  Just ask my husband! But there are a few things I am sure of: I am healed only by Christ's wounds.  God gives us amazing friends!

For the past 3 years, a group of special friends, family really, have been getting together on Wednesday nights for fellowship and studying the Bible.  Some have been studying the Bible for years and others not very long, but we all share in our love for Christ and each other. There are times when we are serious, times when we cry together and times with I don't think I can make it to the bathroom in time because we are laughing so hard.

These women and men don't care what clothes I have on, or if the makeup I put on at 5 am is still  there, or that twice I have told one of my best friends how much I like her scarf (forgetting I had made it for her).  They know what I mean to say even when I don't (which is often)! We don't always agree but are always willing to listen to each other.  We have learned much about each other and even more about ourselves. I know they are a gift from God, assisting me on my adventure of living.

This is my Wednesday nights!

Remember your friends and family(the ones you consider friends), they are gifts from God.  If you have a Wednesday night in your life, I would love to hear about it.

The beginning

I have never been one to read many blogs or had ever thought about writing one.  I spend most of the day on a computer and the thought of spending more time in the evening on the computer didn't appeal to me...until I picked up knitting again and started looking at and reading all the blogs out there by knitters.  Wow, there are so many and so little time to read.

After reading several and following podcasts on some, I decide to start my blog.  It won't be just about knitting, though I do plan to post pictures and snippets about what I am working on, it will also be about what happens in the great adventure of life.  What I am studying in the Bible, where I have gone, what I am reading, etc.  I will try to post a few times a week as time permits.  Hopefully it will be worth taking a few minutes to read.

Have a great day and remember the we all need a little love!
